Here is a brief description by year of the life of Viktor Tsoy and the members of Kino.


1962
..21 June.. Viktor Tsoy is born in Leningrad to the teacher Valentina Vasilyevna and the engineer Robert Maximovich.

1969
.. Viktor starts going to school, where his mother worked.

1974
.. He attends an average art school, where the group "PALATA Nº 6" (Ward Nº 6) is formed, led by Maxim Pashkov. Viktor was there for 3 years.

1979
.. Viktor is removed from school for poor progress (awww..) He starts working in a factory and studies at an evening school.

1981
..Summer.. The group "Garin i Giperboloidi" is formed - Its members are Viktor Tsoy, Alexey Rybin and Oleg Valinsky.
..Autumn.. "Garin i Giperboloidi" joins the Leningrad Rock-Club.
.. Oleg Valinsky leaves; the group changes its name to "Kino"

1982
..Spring.. Kino releases its first album, named "45". Viktor meets Marianna, who is to play an important part in his life.
.. Kino's first concert takes place at the Leningrad rock-club with Boris Grebinschikov's "Aquarium".
.. Viktor finishes school, and goes to work in a restoration workshop in Pushkin.
..Autumn.. Viktor begins working in landscape gardening. Kino holds its first concert in Moscow.

1983
..February.. Alexey Ribin leaves the group due to some disagreements with Viktor Tsoy.
..Summer.. The 'demo' soundtrack "46" is written with Alexey Vishni.

1984
..Spring.. "Kino" presents at its second festival held by the Leningrad rock-club.
.. In the second half of 1984, "Nachalnik Kamchatki" (The Manager of Kamchatka) is produced in Andrey Tropillo's studio together with the musicians of "Aquarium" . The second version of Kino is formed, with Viktor Tsoy (guitar and vocals), Yuri Kasparyan (guitar and vocals), Georgiy (Gustav) Guryanov (drums and vocals), and Alexander Titov (bass and vocals). Titov used to be a part of "Aquarium". A little later on, he is replaced by Igor Tikhomirov.

1985
..February.. Viktor marries Marianna.
..Spring.. "Kino" wins the third festival at the Leningrad Rock-club.
..26 August.. Viktor and Marianna have a son named Alexander (Sasha).
.. In the second half of 1985, the group works on the albums "Noch" (Night) and "Eto Ne Lyubov" (This is not Love) in Andrey Tropillo and Alexey Vishni's studio.
.. "Eto Ne Lyubov" is released.

1986
..January.. "Noch" is released.
..Spring.. Kino performs at the Leningrad Rock-club's fourth festival and wins the award for best lyrics.
..Summer.. The film "Konets Kanikul" (The End of a Vacation) is shot in Kiev. The disc "Red Wave" is released, and Viktor Tsoy begins his work at the legendary "Kamchatka".
.. Closer to the end of the year, Viktor participates in shootings of Alexey Uchitel's "Rock" and the movie "Assa". He also acted in Alexey Uchitel's "Posledniy Geroy" (The Last Hero).

1987
..Spring.. Rashid Nugmanov's "Igla" (The Needle) is shot. Viktor Tsoy plays the leading role.

1988
.. The album "Gruppa Krovi" (Blood Type) is released. "Zvezda po imeni Solntse" (A Star named the Sun) is produced and released later.

1989
..Summer.. Viktor Tsoy and Yuri Kasparyan visit the USA to see Joanna Stingray. They participate in the festival "Zolotoy Dyuk" in Odessa.
.. In France, "Le dernier des héros" (The Last Hero) is released.

1990
..Spring.. Viktor goes to Japan.
..June 24.. Kino performs one of its last concerts at the Luzhniki in Moscow. (This concert is popularly known as his last concert, though he made at least another appearance on stage after this.)
.. The album known as "Cherniy Albom" (The Black Album) is produced. It was released after Viktor's death. (Actually, the album has no "official" name - it's called "The Black Album" because the cover is just black, with "Kino" in small white letters.)
..15 August.. Viktor Robertovich Tsoy is tragically lost in a car accident near Riga (Latvia) at 12:28.
..19 August.. Viktor is buried in the "Bogoslovskoye Kladbishe" (Theological Cemetery) in Leningrad.

1996
.. Kino's albums are remastered.

2000
.. Current Russian artists release a tribute to Kino called "KINOprobi".
.. 2 new digitally remastered CDs are released, called "Istoriya Etogo Mira" (The Story of this World) and "Pechal" (Sadness).

2003
.. 6 new albums are released, which feature early songs by Garin i Giperboloidi, 2 concert CDs, a compilation of Kino's songs which were used in movies, as well as Kino's last songs in a different musical arrangement. You can download some of these albums from Kinoman.net .
